With more than 45 years of professional experience, Ms. DeForest has been co-managing her own dairy farm for 31 years. Her primary responsibilities include managing the finances, overseeing inventories and caring for calves. She also educates and informs consumers about the importance of dairy products. A recipient of the Dairy Communicator Award from the Michigan Milk Producers Association, she attributes her success to her hard work. Her family show registered Guernsey, Ayrshire and Jersey cattle at local fairs and the Michigan State Fair. Way Lene Acres daily farm currently milks four breeds of dairy cattle.

Ms. DeForest received her Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1962. Her professional affiliations include the Michigan Farm Bureau, the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau Board, the American Guernsey Association, American Farmers for the Advancement and Conservation of Technology and Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Ms. DeForest intends to continue growing professionally and continue telling the true story of American agriculture, and dairy in particular.
