RAD: spring wheat plantings completed
RAD completed sowings of spring wheat doubling the acreage under this crop compared to 2008
BARNAUL, RUSSIA, June 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- All farms of Russian Agricultural Division which have been active this season reported the completion of spring wheat plantings, the company said on June, 1. "RAD is accumulating strength as a large-scale farming operator; this year the company was able to boost the cultivated acreage significantly, and wheat in particular", says Alexander Kalashnikov, RAD Chief Executive.
In spring 2009, RAD farming units almost doubled the planted area under spring wheat compared to the previous crop year. The sowings in Allac Ltd., located in the Altay Territory and boasting some of the most fertile soils in the company land bank, stood at 3,200 ha; wheat acreage in Agrofirma Niva Ltd. and Selkhozholding Ltd. amounted to 1,000 ha and 2 200 ha respectively. Besides, this year the company plans to harvest over 2,300 ha of the winter variety of the crop.
"We managed to keep the optimal dates of the field works organizing them at a very brisk pace. Technical upgrade played an important part in improved efficiency", comments RAD CEO.
PAVA land-owning subsidiary controls over 160 000 ha of land and actively puts new tracts under cultivation, with the use of leading-edge agricultural processes.
