RAD conducts winter harvesting, sees higher crop yield
PAVA farming subsidiary RAD almost completed harvest of winter wheat and rye, seeing yields exceed original forecast
BARNAUL, RUSSIA, September 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Harvesting of winter crops by Russian Agricultural Division is keeping up pace, despite prolonged rainfall, the company reported. PAVA subsidiary is gathering winter rye and wheat on farms of the Altay Territory, using advanced western machinery and recording historically high increase of yields.
Allac LLC, located in the Kamensky district, has completed operations on 95% of winter rye acreage. The average yield is 37 hundredweight per ha, while on a number of fields it reaches the maximum of 70 (the projected estimate stood at 25 hundredweight). This achievement became possible through large-scale investment in machinery and inputs, as well as efficient agricultural techniques.
Farmers of Agrofirma Niva LLC in the Solton district proceed with harvesting winter rye and wheat, the latter showing yield levels of up to 30 hundredweight per ha. Overall, it was a good year for emergence of winter cereals, which positively affected the quality of the crop.
The company agronomists say preliminary results of spring crop harvest will be posted by the end of this week, and that weather conditions are not likely to hinder the initial targets.
